A commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness

Round Square is committed to a philosophy of sustainable development  that seeks to encourage current generations to understand the delicate balance between meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We believe that such an understanding sees sustainability  as not a fixed state of harmony, but rather a process of change in which the exploitation of resources, the direction of investments, the orientation of technological development, and institutional change are made consistent with future as well as present needs.

To this end we are mindful of the global impact such an organisation might have by its very existence and the need to encourage global understanding through international travel. Consideration is always given to the need to travel and the impact of such movement the environment. Further consideration is given to the planning and delivery of international and regional conferences to ensure that they subscribe to a relevant understanding of environmental impact. At all times member schools are encourage to initiate effective environmental awareness programs and to explore “green “ opportunities in their local and national environments.
